We’re seeking a Motion Designer to develop animated assets via storyboarding, into production and final delivery.
You’ll enjoy creating a huge range of deliverables: social media videos, shots or sequences in live action films, videos added into interactive content, videos to sell interactive experiences like websites or games, or even videos used in experiential activities, like escape rooms. But we don’t want you to just execute the ideas and produce incredible motion design, at times we will want you to generate ideas too. Help us tell stories, share your ideas, and bring creativity and inspiration to the table.
Visual branding is a huge part of what we do, for multiple clients around the world. So you’ll need to be a master in working to client guidelines and brand rules, while figuring out unusual ways to push the art of the possible, and create something original that delivers delight as well as delivering on the brief. You’ll be a fantastic communicator, confident in delivering ideas to clients, understanding their feedback, and liaising with the rest of the team internally.
This is a hugely busy role, and you’ll need to work with various departments - creative (design and copy), accounts, production - as well as sometimes managing freelancers when the load gets too much. Plus, working to client guidelines can sometimes feel like you’ve got your hands tied, which can be really frustrating. But there’s an art in creating innovative work in spite of boundaries, and if you’ve got the gift, then you can put it to good use at Ph. What Will You Be Doing?
- Take and interrogate creative briefs on a variety of motion assets, ensuring a clear path for production.
- Collaborate with production on production estimates, and bring skill at managing your time wisely and sensibly.
- Work from scripts to generate original ideas, and confidently share feedback if you need more support or input on the script.
- Work with account management and production on deliverables and expectations.
- Deliver incredibly good and innovative creative work while hugging the brief and taking into account the tech spec.
- Generate visual and storytelling ideas through production, and join brainstorms on concepts and directions. Use your experience and inspiration from developments in the industry to inform what we do and push us to achieve more.
- Present your work to clients in a digestible way, explaining your decisions and choices clearly, evaluating and acting upon their feedback and even defending your decisions when it’s right to do so.
- Recommend, vet, and manage freelance Motion Designers, and support our Production team through this process too.
What You’ll Need To Bring
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and even a pencil.
- Outstanding motion graphic design skills in Adobe After Effects
- A deep understanding of digital media creativity and best practice.
- Ability to interrogate and act on briefs to deliver top quality work.
- Can present ideas and rationale confidently to clients, and can understand and action feedback.
- Unrivalled design eye and knowledge in typesetting.
