For this week’s episode of Getting Goosebumps, we were joined by CEO of CAREEREALISM and CareerHMO, J.T O'Donnell.
J.T is a recruiter, employer and career branding specialist, helping workers of all ages to achieve greater professional satisfaction.
Working with both individual clients and corporations, J.T is truly an expert of her field. When it comes to brand storytelling, she knows how to utilize the greatest storytelling assets to help boost the message of your brand.
Creating the right content
A successful content writer, J.T shares how to create content that provides your audience with what they haven't been able to find elsewhere. It’s essential that your content offers your audience the value that they're looking for, so that the can build trust from that experience and return for more.
We all get stuck for ideas at times. If you’re looking for fresh content ideas and find yourself telling a story more than once, J.T advises that these are the stories that we should be turning into articles, or even videos.
Letting stories unfold
J.T talks about letting stories unfold naturally from your brand. She delves into how doing something as simple as observing your brand culture can lead to creating awesome stories that your brand can share.
This requires taking a look at how your brand culture changes and evolves over time, and finding ways to let those stories unfold.
The greatest storytelling assets
J.T has found that one of the greatest storytelling assets is employees, emphasising that it's often employees who are the most keen to tell brand stories. With that in mind it’s up to brands to trust employees and be willing to let them tell the stories and spread the word.
J.T sheds some light on why it pays off to include your employees in the creation of your brand message as a whole. After all, they’re part of the brand, so it’s their message too.
